Guru Mudi Offering and Guru Purnima Celebration
Guru Mudi Offering:
A profound act of devotion, the Guru Mudi Offering symbolizes gratitude, surrender, and commitment to the Guru. Offerings include time, treasure, talent, love, leaves, flowers, fruits, water, grains, and more.
Significance of Offering Bhiksha:
On Guru Purnima, the guru accepts bhiksha (alms) from his disciples and devotees as an act of immense compassion. When a devotee offers bhiksha, they are actually offering their karma to the guru. The guru, in turn, takes away that karma and its effects on the devotee. This act frees the disciples from lifetimes of karmic bondage and suffering. It is a profound exchange where the disciple’s ego and limited identity are surrendered at the feet of the guru, allowing them to grow into the infinity of the Supreme. This simple offering of gratitude is believed to burn accumulated karma from many lives, bringing courage and grace to the devotee.
Offering bhiksha (alms) on Guru Purnima expresses gratitude, strengthens the Guru-disciple bond, cleanses negative energies, and invites divine blessings and spiritual growth.
