In Tamil, the word Ādi (ஆடி) refers to the fourth month of the Tamil solar calendar (mid-July to mid-August), a period considered highly auspicious for the worship of the divine feminine.
Pūram (பூரம்) is the Tamil name for the nakshatra or star known in Sanskrit as Pūrva Phalgunī, which is the favorite nakshatra for Devi. In Jyotisha Shastra, it is said that this nakshtra is ruled over by Shukracharya, who governs the prosperity, abundance, wealth, marital happiness and progeny and ultimately even the love towards divine in our lives.
This day is auspicious for offering glass bangles (Valaikappu), as it celebrates the form of Devi Paramashivashakti receiving the bangle alankaram blessing all her devotees with the blessings of prosperity, progeny, abundance and ultimately the feeling connection and devotion.
Hinduism reveres the Divine Mother as the source of all existence; we worship Her through sacred rituals and we experience Her as the very consciousness within us. On this auspicious occasion we worship THE SUPREME PONTIFF OF HINDUISM BHAGAVAN SRI NITHYANANDA PARAMASHIVAM.
